Let’s start right now.
Visiting Paris in 2014, a few recommendations from us
The Hotel du Danube is located in the Saint Germain des Pres, a chic district with an enviable literary and artistic heritage. Here it is ideal for strolling the picturesque streets and shopping. You might wish to take lunch at the Café de Flore, a renowned historic Art Deco eating place where once Picasso, Camus and Sartre held forth.
The Jardin du Luxembourg is the second largest of the Parisian public parks. This delightful oasis of tranquillity can trace its origins to the early 17th century and is dotted with over a hundred monuments, statues and fountains, including the famed, grotto-like Medici Fountain. Here you can find a puppet theatre, a children’s playground and a vintage carousel to add to the charm.
The Orsay Museum is housed in a former Beaux Arts railway station and offers a fabulous selection of French art, furniture, sculpture and photography from the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. Here you can view the works of Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne and many more greats.
No visit to Paris would be complete without climbing the 1063 feet high Eiffel Tower. Originally a temporary structure built for the 1889 World’s Fair, this has become the symbol of Paris and the view will take your breath away.
