A Valentine's day to remember in the capital of Love !

On the evening of February 14th, Paris beats with the hearts – still to take or already pleased. If you and your (future) other half want to make it a night (or a day) to remember, the hardest part surely is to pick the option that will suit your taste best. Romantic diners with specially made menus, shows, romantic cruises on the Seine or unusual activities, Paris is full of surprises and ideas to have a good evening as a couple. So while you are staying in the capital of Love, take the opportunity to let yourselves be delighted by one of them !

A classical and romantic Valentine's day

To enjoy a very Parisian romantic atmosphere, you can go for a candlelight dinner in one of the flyboats of the capital. Specially for Valentine's evening, many companies offer dinner menus for couples, aboard boats and barges. Is there anything more romantic than sharing a delicious dinner on the water, whilst admiring the beautifully lit view of the sides of the Seine, on this winter night ? Here are a few ideas to choose from, according to your likings and budget.

  • Dinner and jazz concert on l'Improviste barge (50€/person) : dinner and cocktail along with a jazz concert, and followed by a dancing salsa night

  • Dinner cruise Amiral – Valentine's day special (99€/person) : dinner and 1h45 cruise (departure 7 p.m) on a luxury boat, along with a musical animation

  • Valentine's day dinner cruise « Diamant Bleu » (139€/person) : dinner and complete cruise (2h30) around the Seine, gastronomic menu and romantic musical animation (voice and violin)

A picturesque Valentine's day

If you are visiting Paris, take it from a Parisian, there is no neighborhood more romantic and picturesque than Montmartre to celebrate Valentine's day ! The tiny and steep paved streets, the lights, the bohemian soul that lingers on the hillock a century after its golden age, not to mention the tremendous view on Paris from the Sacré Coeur parvis... it is the heaven of lovers !

To enjoy this peculiar atmosphere, the best thing is still to walk hand in hand along the little streets and squares of Montmartre. Those of you that clichés do not bother will even be able to have their portrait drawn by one of the artists who invest the Place du Tertre, or offer each other flowers and souvenirs from peddlers. For those who would rather spend a more intimate and privileged evening, the famous restaurant Le Moulin de la Galette – which reputation is already made – offers every year a special menu for a romantic evening (created by chef Pascal Taprest), for 75€ per person. For the bucolic atmosphere, the delicious food and the hint of a historical smell, this is an idea that could very well make this evening unforgettable... But do not forget to book your table in advance, the place is very popular on Valentine's day !

A cultural Valentine's day

Brace yourselves, until Sunday, February 15th, 2015, the Pinacothèque of Paris is celebrating the physical act of love ! As part of their « Art and eroticism in the Far East » season, the exhibition « The Art of love in the time of geishas » presents some 200 prints, engravings, photographs and objects of everyday life that will revive your craziest fantasies. These forbidden masterpieces of Japanese art display the hedonist and highly erotic lifestyle of the dominant bourgeois classes in great Japanese cities. A stop that will nicely occupy a lovers' afternoon before a candelight dinner.

Information :

Pinacothèque – 28 place de la Madeleine – Paris 8° (metro station : Madeleine – line 14)

Timetable on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 : 10.30 a.m to 6.30 p.m

Fares : 13€ (or 11€ with a reduced price)

A … grandiose Valentine's day !

While you are staying in Paris, if you want to take the opportunity to make it a memorable Valentine's day in a unique place (and that your budget for the night is higher), why not go to Moulin Rouge ? The famous centenary cabaret also offers a special formula for the occasion, from 225€ per person. That includes a gastronomic menu (created by the chefs of the world-famous Maison Dalloyau), champagne, a surprise gift... and of course, the unforgettable and grandiose show of the Moulin Rouge dancers !
