What better place is there in which to celebrate Bastille Day than Paris? The Hotel du Danube, near the Place de la Concorde, is the ideal starting point from which to enjoy this incomparable celebration on July 14th.
First stop: the Place de la Concorde and Champs-Élysées
After a hearty gourmet breakfast at the Hotel du Danube, you cross the Seine and head through the Jardin des Tuileries in the summer sunshine to reach the Place de la Concorde in about fifteen minutes. This vast space dominated by the Obelisk is where the famous military parade finishes. The Place also welcomes all the officials and dignitaries, from the President of the Republic to the day’s official guests. Admire the skill of the Patrouille de France, our nation’s official aerobatic display team, as well as the gleaming uniforms and precision marching of the nation’s various military units.
Second stop: the Champs de Mars
In the evening, head to the Champs de Mars to attend a concert of exceptional quality. Each year, the Orchestre National de France and the Choeur de Radio France enchant a huge audience. The concert is followed by the long-awaited fireworks display close to the Eiffel Tower. The Iron Lady and the Champs de Mars form a magnificent backdrop for a pyrotechnic spectacular. You can then continue the party with the unmissable and wonderfully convivial Firefighters’ Ball. Please note that some balls, such as the one at La Monnaie, a ten-minute walk from the Hôtel du Danube, will be held on the evening of July 13th!
Here, the Hotel du Danube team has presented the traditional ways of celebrating Bastille Day in Paris. There are many more. A big garden party at the Paris Longchamp racecourse, a dinner cruise on a river boat, a party in a club… The choice is yours!
