The end of winter and the beginning of spring bring a renewed lightness and energy to Paris. There’s plenty going on to enhance your enjoyment of the city, including fairs, exhibitions and sporting events. Thanks to its ideal location in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Hotel du Danube offers the perfect starting point from which to discover them.
Art in all its forms
March is off to a great start with a new exhibition at the Musée de l'Orangerie. The museum tour takes you on a discovery of the museum’s masterpieces, from Monet to Picasso. And speaking of the latter, from March 7th, the Musée National Picasso is launching its commemorations of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the famed Catalan artist. Several artists are invited to pay homage to him by using colour and movement. At the same time, the Palais Galliera takes you back to 1997. A real turning point in contemporary fashion, that year heralded the approach of a new millennium. Finally, March will wind up in a big way with the 25th edition of the Art Paris Art Fair, an international event dedicated to contemporary art.
All the excitement of sport
Before the buzz of the Paris Marathon at the beginning of April, come and test the pavement and cheer on the runners who will set off on the Harmonie Mutuelle Paris half-marathon on March 5th. On March 17th, 18th and 19th, Paris will thrill to the excitement created by the world’s greatest show jumping horses and riders at the Saut Hermès. They will compete in an elegant but electric atmosphere of the ephemeral Grand Palais. Finally, on March 18th, go to the Stade de France for the last day of the Six Nations Tournament. The Grand Slam may be played out before your eyes!
Settle into the haven that is the Hotel du Danube in late winter or early spring. You’ll delight in all that Paris has to offer!
